Nikki here from GutzBusta!! I personally use our hay nets each and every day.... 365 days a year, and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of different ways I can use our hay nets to assist in managing my horses!
We now have such an extensive range of sizes, and also hay net hole sizes to suit every equestrian owner out there! Our hay nets are also used by livestock owners, primarily hobby farmers as well. They are used with sheep, cattle, alpaca's, goats and other equids such as Donkeys!
One thing I love to hear about, is how our customers use our hay nets and the ideas they come up with.
Discussed below are 2 customers that have recently shared their stories with some photos on how they use our nets for their particular situation.
Thanks so much Sarah (Australia) and Kathryn (New Zealand) for sharing some photos of our hay nets in action with your beautiful horses 🥰
Kathryn L - 3/4" Small Knotless Hay Nets - NZ
Kathryn from NZ sent us some great photos of her set up. They are a great idea for keeping the hay nets out of the mud, secured and unable to be tossed about. Kathryn uses our 2cm Small hay nets for her big guys and finds them fantastic for her horses.
She reports that it took her a while to get the balance right, but now that she does, this feeding system work great! She is also happy for her idea to be shared in the hope it might offer a solution for someone else. 🙂
In corresponding with Kathryn, she said:
"Thanks for designing such excellent nets, it took me a long while to find such brilliant ones and I have bought only your nets for a few years now. I love how robust they are and how long they last, plus it is very hard to find nets with holes so small, which is what I need as part of my horses’ diets. I actually have 24 of your small ones now (knotless, 3/4"/ 20mm holes) as I have 4 hay barrels per 12 hours, 2 available to start with then a gate timer to let the boys out for the second lot, so that means 8 nets a day. So having a big supply of them means I can stay ahead with net stuffing, especially if I’m going away and someone else is looking after them."
Kathryn's recent review:
Knotless Hay Nets - Small 3/4"
These are the best nets I’ve ever owned, not only the perfect size net and size holes for my needs but robust and last for a long time. I clip them into cut-down barrels so that my horses can eat from them at grazing level. It works really well and I highly recommend the nets!
Below are the photos of Kathryn's smalls attached securely inside the feeders. This idea is great for encouraging head down grazing. and also would be a great idea for shod horses.
Thanks so much for your great review and awesome photos Kathryn, we greatly appreciate them. Kathryn's idea could work well for shod horses as well, however you would probably make the plastic containers a little deeper (more wall height)..
Sarah S - 1-3/4” 4x4 Knotted Round Bale - Australia
Sarah has an awesome metal frame to help keep the round bale of hay contained and protected. This can be very helpful in wet conditions.
The tarpaulin set up over the top of the frame is a great way to keep the rain off your precious hay! What a great way to recycle a trampoline frame!
Sarah's recent review of our hay nets:
Knotless 4x4 Round Bale Hay Net - 1-3/4”
"Great quality
Really happy with the 4x4 round bale knotted hay net I bought from GutzBusta. Has slowed my horses feeding down and kept my pasture management on track. We built a roof over an old 4x4 trampoline frame and it all works so well. No point in wasting money and time on the cheap ones out there, the GutzBusta net shows no sign of wear and tear, which means less hassle and I can use it for years to come."
Thanks so much for sharing your idea Sarah, it's ideas like this that can offer a solution to a problem that another customer is having, so we appreciate you taking the time to send through photos and also your review!!
